Director Of Product Management
Matilda Cloud
Job Title: Director Of Product Management
Company: Matilda Cloud
Location: Richardson, TX (Hybrid)
About Matilda Cloud:
Matilda Cloud is at the forefront of AI-driven cloud management, delivering advanced solutions that simplify complex cloud operations, from multi-cloud assessments and seamless migrations to comprehensive optimization and modernization. Our platform integrates machine learning and real-time data insights to automate traditionally resource-intensive processes, enabling enterprises to scale their cloud environments efficiently and securely. By leveraging a modular yet interconnected suite of tools, we provide granular visibility and control over cloud infrastructure, helping businesses not only reduce costs but also meet stringent security, compliance, and performance standards.
Role Overview:
A central mandate of this role is establishing product management as a professional discipline within the organization. This is not a refinement project, it is a greenfield build. Specifically, you will be expected to design and institutionalize:
Product Discovery & Intake
A repeatable process for gathering, validating, and synthesizing customer and market inputs including structured customer interviews, win/loss analysis, and ongoing feedback loops with sales and customer success.
A clear methodology for translating customer problems into well-scoped, evidence-backed product opportunities.
Formal intake and triage processes so that feature requests, bugs, and strategic initiatives are consistently evaluated and prioritized against one another.
Roadmap Planning & Governance
A product roadmap framework that operates at multiple time horizons: a near-term delivery view, a medium-term strategic view, and a longer-range vision and is maintained as a living artifact, not a static slide.
A cadence for roadmap reviews that keeps leadership, engineering, and go-to-market teams aligned without creating planning overhead that slows execution.
Clear criteria and frameworks for prioritization, whether that is RICE, opportunity scoring, or a model you design so that roadmap decisions are defensible and consistent.
Product Requirements & Engineering Partnership
Standards for product requirements documentation: what level of specificity is needed before engineering begins, how acceptance criteria are written, and how edge cases and non-functional requirements are captured.
A working model for PM-Engineering collaboration that defines roles, handoff points, and shared accountability built in close partnership with the VP of Engineering, who is simultaneously professionalizing engineering practices.
Processes for managing scope changes, handling mid-sprint discoveries, and escalating tradeoff decisions to the right level.
Product Performance & Iteration
A framework for defining product success metrics and KPIs at both the product and feature level, established before work begins.
Post-launch review rituals that close the loop between what was shipped, what was learned, and what comes next.
A culture of hypothesis-driven development, where assumptions are made explicit and validated through data and customer evidence.
PM Team Standards & Culture
Onboarding processes, role expectations, and career development frameworks for the PM team
Shared templates, artifacts, and tools that create consistency across PMs working on different products without stifling individual judgment.
A product culture that earns the trust of engineering, sales, and executive leadership through rigor, transparency, and follow-through.
AI-Powered PM Operations
Establish from the outset a PM team that uses AI as a force multiplier, not as a future ambition, but as a day-one operating expectation. This means identifying and standardizing AI-assisted workflows across the PM function: using AI tools to accelerate requirements drafting, competitive research, customer feedback synthesis, user story generation, and release documentation.
Define which PM tasks are well-suited to AI augmentation and build that into team norms and templates, so that a PM team operates with the throughput and analytical depth that would otherwise require a much larger one.
Model AI-assisted ways of working personally and coach the PM team on where AI saves time versus where human judgment remains irreplaceable.
Responsibilities:
AI Feature Strategy & Product Integration
Own the strategic vision for AI-powered capabilities across the product suite identifying where AI can create meaningful differentiation in data center to cloud and cloud-to-cloud workflows, and building a roadmap for bringing those capabilities to market.
Work with engineering and data science team to evaluate AI feature opportunities rigorously: defining the customer problem, the data requirements, the performance criteria, and the go-to-market positioning before committing to build.
Develop a clear framework for how AI features are scoped, validated, and measured including how success is defined when outcomes are probabilistic rather than deterministic, and how enterprise customers will be educated and onboarded on AI-assisted capabilities.
Stay current on the AI and ML landscape as it applies to infrastructure management, cloud operations, and data mobility, bringing outside perspective on where the market is heading and where competitive white space exists.
Product Strategy & Domain Ownership
Own the product vision and strategy across our product suite, in partnership with executive leadership.
Develop deep expertise in the data center to cloud and cloud-to-cloud migration and management landscape including competitive dynamics, enterprise buying behavior, and emerging technology trends.
-
Define and maintain a product portfolio view that identifies how the four products relate to one another strategically and where integration or consolidation opportunities exist.
Customer & Market Engagement
Serve as the voice of the customer inside the organization, synthesizing qualitative and quantitative signals into clear product direction.
Build direct relationships with key enterprise customers and prospects; participate in strategic sales conversations, advisory boards, and customer escalations where product context is critical.
-
Partner with marketing on positioning, messaging, and go-to-market readiness for new product capabilities and releases.
Leadership & Cross-Functional Influence
Manage, coach, and develop a growing PM team
Operate as a senior leader and peer to the VP of Engineering, collaborating on delivery planning, tradeoff decisions, and the broader maturation of the product and engineering organization.
Represent product in executive and board-level conversations; bring data-driven clarity to questions about product direction, competitive positioning, and market opportunity.
Qualifications:
8+ years in product management, with at least 3 years managing PMs; experience as the most senior PM in an organization is strongly preferred.
·Proven, specific experience building a product management practice from the ground up. You have personally created the processes, templates, frameworks, and team norms that a PM organization runs on, in an environment where they did not previously exist. Candidates will be expected to walk through what they built, what problems it solved, and what they would do differently.
Experience in enterprise B2B software; comfort navigating long sales cycles, complex stakeholder environments, and technically sophisticated customers.
Domain fluency in data center infrastructure, cloud services, cloud migration, or adjacent enterprise infrastructure categories sufficient to engage credibly with engineering, customers, and prospects without a lengthy ramp.
Strong command of product discovery methodology: you conduct customer research, not just consume it, and you have a clear point of view on how to distinguish signal from noise in enterprise customer feedback.
Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships with engineering leadership; track record of PM-Eng collaboration that improves both delivery quality and team trust.
Meaningful AI experience in both dimensions this role requires: (1) Product: You have defined, prioritized, and shipped AI-powered features in an enterprise context, and you understand the unique challenges of scoping, validating, and positioning AI capabilities for technical buyers; and (2) Operations: You actively use AI tools in your own PM workflow today and have a concrete point of view on where they accelerate the function and where they fall short.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to write crisp product briefs, present compelling roadmaps, and hold their own in technical conversations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience at a Series A–C or early growth-stage software company; genuine comfort with ambiguity, resource constraints, and building without a safety net.
Familiarity with data center operations, hybrid cloud architecture, or cloud-to-cloud data management workflows.
Experience introducing or selecting PM tooling (e.g., Product board, Aha!, Linear, Jira) and building adoption around it.
Background working alongside or within a sales-led growth motion in enterprise software.
MBA or equivalent experience; not required, but the analytical and strategic framing it develops is relevant to this role.
